Community and Economic Development
Our Mission:   To provide access for community leaders in South Carolina to expertise in all branches of knowledge on the University campus.

The Community and Economic Development Program draws upon major resources of the University in support of grassroots efforts to improve the efficiency of government services, enhance knowledgeable participation in civic affairs, expand economic opportunities, achieve orderly adjustments to social change and provide for a safer, healthier and more pleasant environment. The staff also addresses local, state and regional policy issues through research. They advise citizens about needs and concerns identified at the community and state level and prepare reports and present workshops profiling South Carolina communities. Government finance, annexation, consolidation, tax policy, fiscal impact studies, economic development policy, planning, infrastructure investment and community planning are among the many subjects addressed by the program.
