Introduction to Adolescent Media Projects

Students at the Center has been involved in a number of adolescent media projects. SAC students produce a city-wide teen newspaper, Our Voice, write and perform original plays on local history and current issues, write and produce radio programs, design web sites, and publish their own books.

SAC received a $75,000 grant from the Open Society Institute to continue and expand this work during the 2000-01 school year. Over half of the money will help create two SAC classes devoted primarily to media production at eight secondary schools in the New Orleans Public School District. The other money will go to equipment, production costs, and media specialists leading guest workshops.

This section contains a sample of our ever-expanding work in many forms of media.
