Training Assistance

Training is crucial to the success of LINC. The purpose of this Information Sheet is to describe the types of training we have available. Please feel free to contact us with your training needs.

Training modules currently available:

A. Overview of the program - We are prepared to come and talk to any group in your community about LINC. This may be an effective way to orient project participants, recruit volunteers, attract sponsors, or garner publicity.

B. Working with Youth - The purpose of this module is to help older volunteers develop the ability to effectively interact with the youth in the LINC program. Topics such as needs, characteristics, and problems of youth will be addressed.

C. Working with older individuals - This module will assist your youth participants in interacting with their older team members. The module is similar to Module B described above.

D. Community service delivery - This module focuses on principles of organizing and delivering community services. he intent is to help staff and volunteers organize and deliver community service~ce programs.

E. Group dynamics - The emphasis in this module is on working effectively in groups. This training will be done with your intergenerational teams to increase their ability to work as a unit.

F. Service skills - The intent of this module is to help young and old participants develop the skills needed to be effective providers of community service.

G. Community Awareness - The purpose of this training is to increase awareness of resources available in the community and in the State of South Carolina. The resources will be useful in planning and conducting LINC projects.

H. Mentoring - Older adults will receive training in how to serve as mentors to youth. This training is a complement to Module B.

I. Service learning - This module will cover basics of service learning and focus on integrating service learning in LINC project.

J. Volunteer recruitment and retention - The intent of this module is to assist LINC staff in recruiting, training and retaining volunteers.
